Musa sikkimensis 'Manipur Massive' is an exceptionally robust wild banana variety collected from the monsoonal mountain forests of eastern India, in Manipur, near the border with Myanmar.

This form is shorter in stature but much sturdier in build, featuring thicker, broader leaves and very strong pseudostems. Young plants often show wine-red striping on the leaves, adding to their ornamental appeal.

'Manipur Massive' is just as easy to grow as the classic Musa sikkimensis from the Darjeeling region and is even better adapted to drier conditions, while retaining excellent cold tolerance.

A truly impressive tropical ornamental, ideal for exotic gardens, greenhouses, or as a potted centerpiece that can be overwintered on patios.
